Summer lovin'

If a UK summer was something
you paid for every year
then I think we've been had over
or the price we pay 's too dear

The trade description states
warm and sunny days
BBQ friendly evenings
and beach fun, catching rays

But all we've seen so recent
is the rare occasional spot
of warm and dry but overcast
not something close to hot

In the summer days when we were young
for six weeks, out we'd play
and t-shirt off and water fights
were the order of the day

If the benefits implied
By global warming hysteria
Don't arrive next summer time
Then I'm moving to Nigeria
